Are you a takeaway fan? Then find out the best ways to reduce the cost of eating out and the latest fast food discounts.
Fast food discounts
Rightly or wrongly, fast food is increasing in popularity. It’s quick, tastes good and is reasonably priced. In fact, I fail to see any downsides. Well, apart from the health issues, but I’ll deal with that in 20 years times. Fast food is so good, they even wrote a song about it. Anybody remember the Fast Food Rockers? If you haven’t, check them out on YouTube – probably the most shameless cash-in ever!
There are now countless fast food chains around, catering for almost every taste. And because the competition has become so fierce, many of them are offering special offers to attract you back.
Apps are a popular way of reaching out to customers, and the majority of fast food companies now offer them. You can often find loyalty schemes or fast food discounts.
I do like a burger from Burger King, but they aren’t the cheapest. Download the app though, and you can find some special offers – such as burger and fries for £1.99. When you’re in the restaurant, you select an offer and have 15 minutes to redeem it.
Frankie and Benny’s
This app will give you various vouchers, such as money off on a certain day or 2 for 1 offers. You can also invite friends to download the app, and you both receive 20% off.
They have an app you can download to your phone. Every time you make a purchase, they will scan your app and you’ll receive a stamp. 3 stamps will see you get a free side, 7 a free snack and 11 will get you £5 off. You will collect a stamp when you spend over £3.
Download the Pizza Hut Restaurants app, and make a purchase of £10 or more and you will receive a point. Collect three points for a free side or six points for a free main.
They also have a loyalty app called the Subcard. Every purchase you make, your phone can be scanned and it adds points. These points can be redeemed against items such as drink or snacks, and collect enough and you will earn a free foot long Sub. You earn 10 points for every £1 spent and 1000 points will earn you the free foot long. There are ways to earn bonus points, and you will be sent other exclusive offers.
Apps aren’t the only place to look for discounts. Surveys from previous shops can often get you money off. Also, keep a look out for flyers or adverts in local or national newspapers.
Some stores offer discounts or meal deals if you own an NUS card. Check with staff to see if there are any special deals available. And yet again (fast food places are so original) you can bag yourself a free Whopper if you complete a survey after making a purchase.
Frankie and Benny’s
20% off again for NUS card holders. Visit F&B’s website and join their rewards scheme for £10 off. They will usually send you a discount voucher on your birthday too. If you are a Blue Light Card holder, you can also qualify for 20% off.
My favourite, but don’t let that sway you. After you’ve bought something from KFC, complete a short online survey about your visit. Once you’ve finished the survey, you are given a code that can be used for 15% off your next purchase. They often put flyers through doors, so keep an eye out for them.
Possibly the most popular, the Happy Meal is a real attraction for kids. Because of this, they don’t offer the best deals.
At the moment though, make a purchase and you will be given a receipt with a code. Complete a short survey about your visit online, use the code and you’ll be given yet another code. This new code will allow you to buy a Big Mac and Fries for just £1.99 – a saving of over £2.
NUS card holders can also receive a free Cheeseburger, Mayo Chicken or original Mcflurry when they purchase an Extra Value or Wrap meal.
NUS cardholders get a 20% discount. Also, check out www.pizzahut.co.uk to see if there are any deals available.
Look out for gift cards. Tesco sometimes has 20% off all gift cards, which include Pizza Hut. Zeek also provides cards with good discounts.
Like many of the other stores, complete a survey after making a purchase and you could claim a free cookie on your next visit. They are also another company that like to put flyers through the door.
These are the main places I eat. Yes, I know I eat a lot of junk.
