Fivesquid – Use Your Talent to Earn Extra

Everybody has a talent. And everybody needs help with something. So why not earn extra by selling your talents on Fivesquid to somebody in need?

Most people have something they’re good at and equally, they also have something they’re useless at. I seemed to have lucked out and appear useless at most things.

And one thing I’m really bad at is art. I remember at 14 years old, my teacher telling me that I wasn’t to take art at GCSE. It’s something I’ve never been able to get my head around, and when I see my six-year-old son producing better drawings than I can, I know it’s bad.

When I set up my blog, I played around with different logos. This was the best that I could come up with:

In all fairness I never used it, but I still cringe when I see it. So what was the alternative? Well, I decided to pay somebody to design one for me. For some people, this kind of thing comes naturally and they can churn decent images out for very little effort. So I visited various sites and settled on Fivesquid.

I signed up, searched for people offering logo designs and then chose the person with the highest rating. I sent them an idea of what I wanted and they came back to me within two days with three different designs. Then it was a matter of choosing the image I was happiest with, letting the designer know of any alterations and the job was finished. All for £5.40 (buyers have to pay the Paypal fee).

And this was the finished product:

What are you good at?

Do you have a lovely speaking voice? If so you could record voice-overs. Or perhaps you could proofread articles, provide social network advice, illustrate or design websites. The opportunities are fairly limitless. Have a look to see the kind of things on offer and see if you think you can do better.

How much do you get paid?

You can charge £5, £10, £20 or £50 for your services. It all depends on how much you think you’re worth. You can also bid for jobs. For example, somebody may be searching for a photo to be edited. You then tell them how much you’re willing to do the job for and they will choose whoever is the cheapest or offers the best service.

Once you have finished a job and it is marked as “completed”, you can withdraw funds into your PayPal account. This normally takes around 15 days.

How much do Fivesquid charge?

Depending on the payment you receive, charge you between 10-20%. A breakdown of fees can be found here.

Is it worth it?

That’s really up to you. Unfortunately, I seem to be quite devoid of talent, so there’s little for me to offer people. But if you have a talent that you want to share and earn some extra money from, Fivesquid is definitely worth trying out.
