On the hunt for a survey site that pays well? Take a look at my newvista review to see why this is definitely one worth considering.
10-second newvista review
Surveys pay fairly well with newvista compared to rival sites. It is let down slightly by the fact that surveys can be sporadic and payment is made by cheque. But it’s still worth signing up for.
Generally, when it comes to survey sites, I know whether they’re decent within a matter of a couple of weeks and sometimes, a few hours. However, there are several sites out there that take a lot longer to figure out.
I have joined several sites that pay well but have a minimum payout of £50 which means that it takes longer to reach. newvista is one of these sites and I can hardly give them a thumbs up until I had earned my first £50. But finally, I reached it and can tell you why it’s worth using.
Who is newvista?
Taken from their site:
newvista is an online research community for Walnut Unlimited, a respected market research agency. As a leading polling company, with results published in the popular press, Walnut Unlimited will give you the opportunity to share your views on politics as well as contributing your experience of brands and all sorts of other topics. On newvista there will always be something interesting to join in with.
Walnut Unlimited is a UK company based in London and has been operating since 1977.
newvista awards you a certain number of points for every survey you complete. 1 point is the equivalent to 1 pence. The surveys are usually quite short and they pay quite generously compared to some rival survey sites.
Nearly all surveys can be completed from either your phone or computer, which is handy when you’re on the go. When you receive an invite email, it will tell you which devices the survey is compatible with.
newvista does require you to fill out profile questionnaires and keep them updated, but this means you are less likely to be screened out of surveys they send… although that isn’t guaranteed.
If you are screened out of a survey, then you entered into a prize draw for 2 chances to win £50.
Unlike a lot of survey companies, newvista doesn’t actually tell you how long a survey takes before you start. This means that you need to make sure you have at least 15 minutes of free time before you start. However, if a survey is worth 100 points, it shouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes.
It is quite a long wait until you can reach a payout. For me, it took 9 months. This isn’t really an issue though as long as you’re patient. On average, you can expect to receive between 1 and 2 surveys per week.
You can also earn extra points if you accept surveys from newvista’s partners. Although in a year of checking the website, I only received one. That didn’t work properly so I haven’t attempted much since.
Payment is made by cheque, which can be quite a hassle. Luckily, I’m with the Halifax which allows me to pay in cheques by using my phone, otherwise it would be a trek into town for me.
And I have yet to win any of their £50 prize draws. But in over 3 years of online survey sites (and 1000+ surveys), I have managed to win a grand total of £1 from any of these draws – thanks Panelbase!
Unfortunately, there isn’t a referral scheme offered, so you can’t make extra by convincing your friends to join.
How much can you earn with newvista?
At the end of every month, those that have reached 5000 points are sent cheques which usually take 2-3 weeks to arrive.
In my experience, you’re looking at earning £1 for between 5-10 minutes work. This is much better than a lot of survey sites out there. Expected pay per hour £9.
My newvista review conclusion
So, looking at the above there do seem to be a lot more negative points compared to positive. And yes, it is frustrating that you have to wait so long to reach £50. However, the pay is very good for a survey site and it’s worth the wait. Combine newvista with the likes of YouGov and PopulusLive and you should be earning £50 every few months from these sites alone without too much effort.
And at the moment, you earn 500 points (£5) just for signing up. (Correct as if October 2020).
