Shopprize Review – Money For Old Receipts

Money Saver Pete Money Making Apps Leave a Comment

What if I told you that you could earn rewards just for taking photos of your old receipts? Take a look at this Shopprize review to see how much effort you need to put in and how much you can expect to earn.

I don’t know about you, but nothing gives me greater satisfaction than earning money from doing very little. That’s why earning money from taking photos of receipts appeals so much. I’ve now tried several apps that allow you to earn from receipts and Shopprize is a decent option.

How does it work?

Download the Shopprize app, spend money, take a photo of your receipt and earn rewards. It’s that simple.

The good

You receive coins just for opening the app, which means you don’t have to spend a penny! The amount you receive increases for every consecutive day you open the app, up to a maximum of 60 coins per day. Although using just that method would take you quite a while before you earn any vouchers.

If you don’t want to wait until you reach enough points to convert for a voucher, you can enter sweepstakes. This means swapping some of your coins for a chance to win various prizes. These are low cost (usually under 100 coins), plus you get to see how many people you’re up against and when the sweepstake closes. This gives you a really good idea about your chances of winning.

The bad

There are a couple of major downsides to this app.

First of all, the number of customers who can use Shopprize is limited. I had to register my interest band then waited for several months before they emailed me to say I could sign up.

Also, you cannot download the Shopprize app onto an Apple device. So if you’re an Apple fanatic, you’ll either have to buy another device or stick with Shoppix (which provides a similar service).

When using the app, I found it wasn’t great for photos. At first, I thought it was due to me using our Hudl (remember those?) So I moved the app over a Samsung tablet but still had the same problems.

Plenty of the photos I had to retake before I was happy you could actually see what was written on the receipt. And I gave up with my Gregg’s receipts. I’m not sure if it’s just my local store or if it’s national, but their receipts are a little faint. But no matter what angle I took the photo from or in what light, they were always rejected.

The sweepstakes weren’t very tempting. On offer, expect to see things such as silicone cupcake muffin moulds, candles, Nivea gift sets for men and sometimes Amazon gift vouchers.

The money

For every receipt you snap, you receive 120 coins. Plus, when you earn a certain number of coins, you move up levels which reward you with even more coins. When you reach 10,000 coins, you have enough for a £5 Amazon voucher.

Including the daily rewards for logging in, it took me around 5 weeks before I reached my first voucher. Although this sounds like a long time, taking into consideration the time it took to take photos, this works out around £5 per hour. Vouchers usually arrive in your email inbox within a couple of days.

My Shopprize review conclusion

I like this app and it’s probably the best paying receipt app I’ve downloaded. The issue I had was that I was using at the same time as Shoppix, which is a much quicker and easier app to use. But, there’s no reason why you can’t use both apps at the same time (I do) and double your earnings.

If you’re looking for similar apps to Shopprize or Shoppix, then you can take a look at ReceiptHog. However, be warned, I thought it was a complete waste of time!

Do you have a Shopprize referral?

Occasionally, Shopprize will allow you to refer people to sign up to the app. Unfortunately, I don’t have a referral code at the moment but will post here if I do.

In the meantime, register your interest with Shopprize by downloading their app. Please note, that if the link isn’t working, it’s because Shopprize isn’t currently available to new customers.

If my Shopprize review has increased your interest in earning from receipts, take a look at Shoppix.
