EverUp

4.1

For years, I’ve championed cashback sites as an easy way to save money when shopping. However, there’s another great way to find money off – and that’s from buying discounted gift cards.

What is Everup?

Everup is an app that offers gift cards for hundreds of online and offline stores in the UK. When you purchase a gift card, you’ll earn cashback and reward coins. Basically, you’ll get a discount on your shopping.

When Everup started life, it was as some kind of “E-money app” that offered prize money on savings. However, those days are long gone.

How does it work?

Once you’ve downloaded the app and created an account, it’s time to take a look through the gift cards available on Everup.

When you find one for a store you want to make a purchase from, the app will tell you how much cashback you’ll get and the number of coins you’ll earn (more on those below).

Simply choose the gift card’s value and buy it – you can use Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank transfer. Your gift card will be sent to you by email, usually instantly. The card will either have a scannable barcode or a code to enter at the checkout.

The cashback you earn from your gift card will be added to your Everup account. You can withdraw this money to your bank (for a 30p fee) or use it towards further gift cards.

Example of stores from Everup

And look out for boosted events. Everup increases cashback rates for certain retailers or offers other kinds of bonuses. For example, I was offered an extra £12 on any cashback I earned if I spent £500.

What can you do with Everup coins?

As I mentioned, every purchase earns you coins. You have a couple of choices in what to do with these. You can use them towards entries into the daily raffle, which offers prizes such as £75 vouchers.

Or, you can play Spin and Scratch games. These games give you the chance to win cash or even more coins. The big prizes can be as much as £300, although I generally win just a few pence with each spin.

Which stores are included?

As I write, there are 148 stores listed. I won’t give you a complete list as some stores come and go (it was 149 the day before). However, you’ll find the major supermarkets like Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda and Aldi. Plus, you’ll find the likes of Boots, Adidas, Costa, Greggs and many more.

How do the cashback rates compare?

Everup isn’t unique and you can find similar offerings from apps like JamDoughnut, Sprive and HyperJar. All offer different cashback rates and on one day, might offer better or worse rates. But I made a comparison of the best-discounted gift card apps and Everup often came out on top. Not always, but a good percentage of the time.

Is there a referral scheme?

You’ll find a unique referral link in the Everup app. If a friend uses it and cashes out £10, you’ll receive £10 and some Everup coins. And that’s as a Bronze referrer. As you refer more friends, you’ll move up through to Silver, Gold and then Platinum. The higher your referral status, the more you earn.

My Everup review conclusion

I’ve been using the app for quite a while and it’s my new favourite when it comes to gift cards. The rates are always competitive and the coins are a nice little bonus. I never make much from them, but a few pence here and there is always appreciated.

That’s not to say that I don’t check the other apps I mentioned earlier in the post before buying a gift card. I don’t have a sense of loyalty to these companies, so I’m always looking for the best price.
