Who doesn’t like the idea of money for nothing? But is that really true with Nectar Canvass? Take a look at why I think you should be putting your efforts into something else.

Nectar Canvass
I consider myself quite (sadly) the seasoned survey taker. And it doesn’t take me long before I can tell a good site from a bad one. With Nectar Canvass, I knew within a few minutes.
What is Nectar Canvass?
Canvass is simply an online survey site. In return for sharing your opinions about various topics, you’ll be rewarded with Nectar points, which will be added to your account.
How does it work?
When you create your Canvass account, you’ll need to provide personal details such as your name and address, as well as your Nectar card number, so they know where to send your hard-earned points.
It should only take a couple of minutes before you’re ready to earn. Actually, it’s not that simple. The chances are, you won’t receive many surveys until you fill out your profile. And this is a real pain.
Unfortunately, Canvass want to know the ins and outs of a cow’s backside. I’ve joined scores of survey sites over the years and none seem to want to know as much as Canvass. Which is fine… except I must have spent 30 minutes completing my profile and received nothing back in return. Most survey sites give you a little something for your efforts when completing your profile.
Anyhow, you will soon start to see surveys appear on your dashboard and you’ll also be sent email notifications.
Each survey will tell you how long it will take, the topic and how many points it’s worth. Once a survey is completed, your points will be added to your Nectar account within 28 days.

The good
In all honesty, there are very few positive aspects to this site. The major plus point I’ve found as a member is the steady supply of surveys.
Payment time isn’t too bad either. Although it does say it can take up to 28 days for Nectar points to be added to your account, I’ve often been paid within a day or two.
If I’m screened out of a survey, I may receive two Nectar points for my time. But this doesn’t always seem to happen.
And keep an eye out for the odd bonus. I received an email offering me an extra 200 points when I completed any survey.

I also received two bonus offers at the same time after I hadn’t completed a survey for a couple of months. I received 800 bonus points from these, worth £4.

Any downsides?
Oh yes. The biggest negative is the rate of pay. You see, Canvass doesn’t host most of the surveys, but they redirect you to other sites. That means the site actually hosting the surveys is sharing its payment between you and Canvass… meaning you’re not paid your full worth.
Surveys pay differing amounts, but I’ve found the average to be 80 points for 20 minutes. Now, when you use a Nectar points calculator, you’ll see that they’re worth a rather measly 40 pence. That works out at an insulting £1.20 per hour.
Finally, there’s no dedicated Nectar Canvass app. Although you can complete surveys from a phone’s browser, an app is usually much easier and more reliable.

What other people say
There’s a lack of Nectar Canvass reviews on the web, but I managed to find some over on Trustpilot. People aren’t very complimentary and rate it 1.7 out of 5. In general, they complain about the poor rewards and being screened out of surveys for no points late on.
My Nectar Canvass review conclusion
I’m afraid to say a really poor site. In fact, it’s one of the lowest-paid survey sites on the internet. And this is a surprise when it comes from such a large company.
I know that some will see this as money for nothing and a great thing to do in your free time, but it really isn’t. You could join some of the best-paying survey sites instead and earn over £12 per hour, rather than the paltry £1.20 Nectar offers.
