How long do Nectar points last?

Nectar points don’t have an expiry date. However, they can be lost if your Nectar account is closed. And it’s important to note that Nectar may close your account if you haven’t used it over a 12-month period. If you have points on your card, it’s worth swiping at least once a year.

How do I get a Nectar card?

Joining is simple. Just visit the Nectar site and fill out a few details. Your online account will be created immediately and you should receive your physical card within 10 days.

Where can I collect Nectar points?

If you visit in person, you can collect points from:

  • Argos
  • Esso
  • Sainsbury’s
  • Great Western Railway
  • South Western Railway
  • TransPennine Express

On top of all those, there are plenty of other stores you can earn Nectar points when shopping online. Just visit the Nectar site, click on the link to the shop you want to visit and make a purchase. You will then be awarded your points. If you have a habit of forgetting, there’s a Nectar Notifier extension you can add to your browser to help you remember to collect your bonus Nectar points.

You can also link your Nectar and eBay accounts, which means you earn points every time you make a purchase.

And not only that, you can even collect points for free through the Daily Mail.

How to earn more Nectar points

The Nectar website offers cashback in the way of Nectar points. Visit Nectar, click on a link for a retailer and make a purchase. You’ll then earn extra points.

Make sure you download the Nectar app. Here, you will find all kinds of special offers that can help boost the number of points you earn. Most deals are from Sainsbury’s, but you can earn some boosts from other retailers. Not only that, but the app gives you access to Nectar Prices, which gives you personalised offers, meaning discounts on selected items.

Keep an eye out for eBay too. They sometimes give you bonus points of up to six times their value when you make a purchase over a certain period.

If you have some free time, you can visit Nectar Canvass, which will give you with free Nectar points in exchange for completing surveys. But there are survey sites out there that pay far better.

If you’re a Daily Mail reader, make sure you use the free points on offer from the coupons in the paper.

There is also an American Express credit card (annual fee applies), which rewards you with Nectar points every time you use your card to spend.
