8 Of The Best Apps Offering Free Stocks And Shares In The UK

If you’re looking to make extra money with minimal effort, you can’t go wrong with grabbing some free shares for signing up for new trading apps. Here is a list of eight apps that will either give you a free share or cash for joining. Plus, I’ll share with you what you need to do to qualify and how I got on when I gave them a go.

Some of the articles on this blog contain affiliate links. If you click on them, it may mean that I earn a small commission to help cover my running costs. As an Amazon Associate, I will earn from qualifying purchases. This does not affect my reviews.

UK Apps with Free Shares (Or cash)

  • Freetrade – 1 free share
  • Stake – 1 free share
  • Wealthyhood – 1 free ETF
  • Freedom 24 – 1 free share
  • Shares.io – £5 worth of free shares
  • CIRCA5000 – £15
  • Ziglu – £5
  • Wombat – £10

I am forever on the hunt for new ways to make money on the side. And one potential money maker that I often saw suggested was by signing up for various finance apps and taking advantage of their welcome offers. Just by joining and making a small investment, they would give me a free share or cash.

And do you know the best thing about a free share? They often come with a dividend payment. When the company makes a profit, they’ll send you some money based on how many shares you have. This could become a long-term income.

And don’t forget that if you join any of the sites below, you’ll get your own referral link which you can share with friends and family. Within months, you could have your own small investment portfolio.

How to get free stocks and shares in the UK

It’s a pretty simple process. Just choose the company that appeals the most (or all of them if you like) and click on the referral link. Follow the instructions that I have listed below and you’ll be rewarded with a free share or cash.

Please note that all the conditions and bonuses were correct at the time of writing, although I do regularly update the terms.

Freetrade

Freetrade

Freetrade is a UK-based company offering commission-free investment. And because they’re located in the UK, they are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). They offer thousands of stocks from the UK and US as well as ETFs & Investment Trusts.

Stake (Hello Stake)

Stake allows you to trade over 4,500 US stocks and ETFs. So, if you’re in buying shares in UK companies, this is one to avoid. Although originally created in Australia, Stake has an office in the UK and is regulated by the FCA.

Stake referral offer:

One free share – either Nike, GoPro or Dropbox.

How to claim:

  • On your mobile, click on this link (or the button below).

  • Create your account.
  • Add funds.
  • Claim your free share.

My free share:

Trivago – $2.90 (£2.09).

Now, you may be asking why I ended up with a Trivago share when that wasn’t offered. It appears that Stake also throws in the odd stock that isn’t from one of the three listed above. It’s a shame because Nike is listed at $150.

Ziglu

Ziglu

I’ve added this to the list, although it’s slightly different from the other apps. Ziglu only allows you to invest in cryptocurrencies, rather than stocks and shares. Ziglu referral code: 7fb99125

Wombat

Similar to Ziglu, I have added Wombat to the list even though it doesn’t offer a free share. It does, however, offer £10 to new customers. This investment app allows you to invest in funds through an ISA or GIA or to buy individual stocks from the likes of Amazon, Nike and Apple.

Wombat referral offer: £10

How to claim:

  • Click on this link (or the button below) and register your mobile number.
  • Create your account.
  • Invest £10.

Why not take a look at other free money making offers?

A word of warning

When you invest your capital is at risk.

If you’re thinking of opening one of these accounts because you think it could be a way of making a large amount of money, think again. There are plenty of people out there (especially on social media) that claim to make a fortune from trading stocks and shares. It’s a dangerous business. It’s estimated that 90% of people lose money when trading on the stock exchange. If somebody tells you it’s easy, they’re probably after some of your money.

My free shares conclusion

Overall, a little underwhelming. The cash rewards were far better than the shares that were on offer. I have to wonder how many people actually do receive shares that are worth close to $200.

If investing is something that interests you, why not take a look at the best investment apps in the UK?
