Is OpinionBar Still Working in 2026? What Happened to This Survey Site
If you’re looking for ways to make a bit of extra money, survey sites are usually an easy place to start.
OpinionBar used to be one of those options. It wasn’t amazing, but it worked — and you could earn a bit on the side.
However, things have clearly changed.
As of 2026, OpinionBar no longer appears to be functioning properly. The site is still online, but users are struggling to access accounts, surveys are unreliable, and there are ongoing reports of payments not arriving.
So while this was once a usable survey site, it’s now one I’d avoid completely.

Since originally testing OpinionBar, the platform appears to have gone downhill significantly.

- Surveys are either unavailable or inconsistent
- Payments are delayed or not received at all
- There’s little to no active support
The site is still technically live, but in practical terms, it no longer works as a reliable way to earn money.

A site that I had high hopes for but was ultimately disappointing. The pay is just about okay, but it’s let down by too many other things. Best to look elsewhere.

Reviewed by Household Money SavingI came across OpinionBar purely by accident. It’s not an exciting story, but I’m going to share it anyway. Through another survey site, I was invited to take part in an hour-long focus group arranged by somebody with OpinionBar in their email address. And because this focus group paid generously, I thought I would check them out. True story.
Unfortunately, OpinionBar’s generosity seems fairly limited.
What is OpinionBar?
OpinionBar is an online market research panel where users can sign up to participate in surveys and other forms of research in exchange for rewards. Companies and organizations use the platform to gather consumer opinions, feedback, and data on various topics, such as products, services, or social issues.
How does it work?
Once you’ve created your OpinionBar account, you’ll be asked a few basic profile questions about your family and education. However, to get the most from the site, there are more in-depth questions you need to complete. I say in-depth, but it will take under 10 minutes to fill out, which is far shorter than many similar sites. Filling out your profile means you should receive surveys that are more relevant to you.
Next up, head towards the ‘Surveys’ section of the website. Here, you’ll see a list of surveys available to you, how much they pay and the name of the survey, which will give you a hint to what it’s about. Note – there is no expected completion time for the survey.
When you earn at least £10, you can withdraw your earnings, either as cash through PayPal or as a gift card.
The good
The big benefit of OpinionBar is the number of surveys; there’s usually a good amount on offer. If you’ve got some time on your hands, you could sit down for hours and work your way through them.
And the choice of rewards is generous too. There’s a good range of gift cards and the option of cash is always useful. No bank transfer, but you can’t have everything.
Any downsides?
So far, so good. However, there’s quite a bit here that lets OpinionBar down.
First of all, I hate the fact that you can’t see how long a survey takes. It’s all very well telling me I will get £1.14, but in return for what? If it’s 5 minutes, that’s great. But if the survey takes an hour, that’s a complete waste of my time.
There’s no app, which is a bit of a letdown. It’s always nice to be able to earn when I’m out and about.
Another one of my pet hates is that OpinionBar doesn’t host all of its own surveys. So, you can click on one survey and if you don’t qualify, you can be redirected to another. And the new survey may not always pay the same. Plus, you’ll probably have to answer the same screener questions again.
Strangely, it takes 14 days for your earnings to be confirmed. So, not only do you have to reach a minimum of £10, you have to wait for OpinionBar to accept your answers. This is odd as most survey sites confirm your earnings straight away.
Finally, I don’t fully trust the site. I spent nine minutes on an eight-minute survey and answered to the best of my ability. At the end, it told me I had been screened-out and I wouldn’t earn anything. Frustrated would be a polite word to describe my feelings.
How much can you earn from OpinionBar?
From my experience, you earn around 80 pence for every 10 minutes, which works out at just under £5 per hour. But I reckon with all the faffing and redirecting, it’s much closer to £4 per hour.
PayPal payments are only made on the 1st and 16th of the month. So, you could be waiting up to two weeks if you choose cash.
On the other hand, gift cards are sent instantly and you have around 20 to choose from.
Is there a referral scheme?
OpinionBar offers a fairly generous refer-a-friend scheme (they have to do something right). If a friend joins using your link, you’ll get a $2 bonus after they complete their first survey.
What other people think
There aren’t many reviews of OpinionBar, but over on Trustpilot, it scores a ‘Bad’ rating. Users complain about poor rewards for their efforts and issues with payments.
My OpinionBar review: avoid
OpinionBar used to be a fairly average survey site with a few frustrating quirks.
Now, it’s something else entirely.
With login issues, unreliable surveys and increasing reports of missing payments, it’s no longer a platform you can trust.
There are far better survey sites available that actually pay and respect your time.
