Pawns.app review: A passive way to make money?

How does making money from doing nothing sound to you? Well, Pawns.app promises you a way to make a passive income. But is it really as good as it sounds and how much can you really earn?

I’m a big fan of having multiple income streams. Not only does it mean that I’m not reliant on one form of income, but it also means that I can make more money.

And as time is short during the day, one of my favourite earners is through a passive income. If I’m earning money passively, it means I can spend my time on other things.

And the latest method for me to try was Pawns.app.

What is Pawns.app?

This is an app or a piece of software that you download to your chosen device. It then uses your network connection to gather information about companies and services on the internet. This information is then passed on to Pawns.app’s business partners.

Come again?

In simple terms, what you may see on the internet may differ from what I see. By sharing the data from each individual internet connection, businesses get a better impression of what users are seeing.

Is it safe?

The company claims that the app has no access to your storage and does not gather any personal data. They continue to say that all traffic is fully encrypted and they only use the information needed to make the service work – your IP address, network speed, and location.

The app is owned by IPRoyal, a company based in the United Arab Emirates.

How does it work?

First, you’ll need to create an account, which will take just a few seconds. Then, download either the app to your phone or the software to your computer. If you want, you can download to multiple devices.

Once done, you’ll start earning. You can check your progress by opening the app, which will tell you exactly how much you have earned.

You’ll also have the chance to complete surveys which will boost the amount you make. Pawns.app clams that average survey pays $1, but they can be as much as $5. Which is pretty impressive from a survey.

When you hit $5, you can withdraw your earnings.

How much can you earn?

The amount you can make from Pawns.app depends on three main factors:

Where you’re located – where you’re based can mean that your data is more valuable. Although Pawns.app doesn’t specify, you’ll probably earn more if you live in areas like USA, Western Europe and Australia.

The speed of your internet connection – the higher the bandwidth you have, the more data you can share. More data means more money.

The number of devices you connect – download the software to multiple devices and you can earn even more. However, each device needs its own unique IP address. So, you can’t connect several devices to your home router.

You’ll earn $.20 for every 1GB shared.

Pawns.app estimates that if your device is on for 12 hours every day, then you’ll earn just under $5 per month.

Withdrawal options

When you reach $5, you can withdraw in various ways depending on where you live. In the UK, you can choose PayPal, Bitcoin, prepaid Visa Card or an Amazon or Google Play gift card.

Refer a friend

Pawns.app run a fairly decent referral scheme. For every friend that joins, you’ll receive a $1 bonus once they withdraw. And not only that, you’ll receive a further 10% from every cashout they make.

What other people think

When writing my reviews, I always like to take a look at other people’s thoughts. On Trustpilot, Pawns.app scores a ‘great’ 3.9 out of 5. However, as there are only a handful of reviews, you can’t read too much into it.

Over on the Play Store, the app scores a fairly average 3.1 out of 5 from over 2,000 reviews. Although some users praise the app for allowing them to make ‘easy money’, others have struggled with the software crashing.

How much did I earn?

It’s all very well the claims made, but how did I get on when using the app? Well, not very well.

Passively, from using my laptop for around 8 hours per day, I managed to earn a pretty unimpressive $0.17. By my calculations, it would just be under a year before I would reach my $5.

So, I decided to give the surveys a chance instead. Now, these redirect you to a partner site so you don’t know how long they take and how much you’ll earn. But the results weren’t good.

My first survey paid me $0.02 for 5 minutes. That’s the lowest I’ve ever been paid for a survey and is equal to just $0.24 per hour. That would take me around 4 hours to pay for a chocolate bar.

And the rest, although they paid slightly more, weren’t much better. Expect to earn around $1 per hour.

My Pawns.app review conclusion

I would love to tell you that this app is going to change your life and make you a small fortune. But the truth is, it won’t. It might not even change your bank account.

This is an international app which I really don’t think is suited for people in places like Europe, America and Australia. Perhaps the pay is more appealing in other parts of the world, although I’m not so sure.

Even the referral programme might not earn you much as you won’t receive anything until your friend requests a payout. And many will give up before they reach $5.

Personally, I would stick to Honeygain. Again, it’s not a big money spinner but you will earn something without much effort.
