Is Zavvi still going?

Yes, it is.

If you’re as old as I am, you may remember Our Price and Virgin Megastores (of Richard Branson fame) as the go-to places when you wanted to get hold of records, tapes and CDs. Well, they merged in the ’90s and in the 2000s, Virgin decided to leave the market and Zavvi was formed. By 2008, Zavvi had gone into administration.

But in 2009, The Hut Group purchased the Zavvi website and it has been operating happily ever since.

What do they sell?

Zavvi now stocks a whole range of items. From Lego to clothing to records to DVDs, if you’re looking for a gift for somebody, then Zavvi has a lot to offer.

But their main focus is away from the latest releases (although there are some available), and instead, Zavvi is particularly a great place if you’re searching for collectable items. In fact, they have a section on their website where you can add the items you’re currently collecting.

Splitit

If you would prefer not to pay for your order all in one go, then Zavvi allows you to use a service called Splitit. This allows you to pay you for your order over 6 months. There are no credit checks, no interest and no fees.

I would suggest that use this option sparingly though. The more monthly payments you have coming out of your account, the harder it can be to keep on top of your finances.

Delivery

Standard delivery in the UK costs £1.99. If you’re in a rush, then you can have your package delivered next day for £5.99.

Alternatvely, you could opt for delivery to an InPost locker for 99 pence. If your order is £40 or more, then it’s free.

Zavvi refer a friend scheme

Once you have an account with Zavvi, you can start sharing your own referral link. Just visit the ‘your account’ section and share it with friends. They’ll earn 10% off of their first purchase, whilst you’ll get £3 worth of credit.

This credit can be used towards any purchase on the Zavvi website.

Any other discounts?

Before you make a purchase, take a look through the front page of the Zavvi website. They sometimes list codes offering 10 – 15% off.

You may also find some discount codes at sites like vouchercodes.co.uk. They will usually give you something in the region of £5 off a £60 shop.

Zavvi is also listed on all of the major cashback sites too, offering around 2-5% back. If you’ve never used a cashback site before, they’re simple to use. Simply create an account, click on the cashback site’s link to Zavvi before you shop and you’ll earn money back. This can be withdrawn in cash or through vouchers.

But bear in mind that usually, you won’t earn cashback if you use a discount code too.
