NHS discount at Argos? How to save money

Are you on the hunt for an NHS discount at Argos? See if there’s one available and how else you can save money.

NHS Discount At Argos

You’ve got to love Argos – how can one shop stock quite so much? But, a lot has changed over the years, with Sainsbury’s taking ownership and a lot of their business moving online. I do miss the days when you used to eagerly pop down to your local store to pick up the latest catalogue.

And although Argos has some great prices, you can always get a price reduction, no matter how small. Take a look at how to get a discount when shopping there.

Is there an NHS discount at Argos?

Unfortunately, there is no direct discount available for NHS employees. Unlike some retailers around the UK, showing your NHS ID won’t automatically entitle you to money off your purchase. But the good news is, there are plenty of other ways to get a discount.

Blue Light Card

When you’re looking for any kind of discount, if you’re an emergency service worker, I always recommend looking at the Blue Light Card first. For only £4.99 every two years, you’ll get access to some pretty good discounts, many of which you can’t find elsewhere.

And you’ll be pleased to hear that Argos is one of the retailers listed. But it’s not a case of just showing your card when you make a purchase. Instead, you’ll need to buy a gift card beforehand. How much you can save does vary, but expect discounts to be around 3-6%.

Watch the video below to see how to purchase gift cards through the Blue Light Card website.

Airtime Rewards

This is a must-have app for anyone who owns a mobile phone. Once downloaded, you need to link your debit or credit cards. Then, when you make a purchase at one of the listed retailers, you’ll earn cashback. Your earnings can then be put towards your mobile phone bill.

The listed retailers change, but you can often earn cashback from the likes of Boots, Primark, Matalan and Morrisons. Oh, and Argos.

Cashback sites

If you decide to shop online, then always check cashback sites first. If you’ve never used one before, all you need to do is click on the cashback site’s link to Argos before you buy anything, and you’ll earn money back.

Unfortunately, the main sites like Quidco and TopCashback don’t always offer cashback for Argos. But there is another site called KidStart where you can earn from shopping at Argos. Any money gained through this site can then be paid into a child’s savings account. Why not have a look at my full KidStart review?

Current account cashback

Another of my favourite ways of getting a discount is by using my Chase debit card when shopping. This gives me 1% back every time I use it, up to £15 per month.

Receipt scanning apps

Again, not a huge earner, but a great way to help earn something back. Companies out there are interested in your spending habits, and this is where receipt-scanning apps step in. All you need to do is download the app to your phone, take a photo of your receipt, and earn cash or money towards gift vouchers.

There are plenty of options, and you can visit some of the best receipt-scanning apps.

Nectar card

As I mentioned above, Sainsbury’s now owns Argos, which means you can now spend your Nectar points there. Either hand over your Nectar card if you’re in-store or choose your Nectar points as a way to pay if you are shopping online.

1 Nectar point is equal to 0.5 pence, or you can see how much your points are worth by looking at this Nectar calculator.

Other NHS discounts

Of course, not having a discount at Argos is disappointing, but others are available for NHS staff. Why not check out the following?
