I’m a big fan of taking surveys and have joined multiple sites over the years, mainly because it’s an easy way to make money. Some have been a great way to earn extra cash, while others should be avoided at all costs.
Opinion Outpost is quite a well-known site amongst the survey-taking community. And to be honest, I have been a bit late to the party, so I thought I would sign-up and give it a go.
What is Opinion Outpost?
Opinion Outpost is a survey company that will give cash rewards and gift cards in exchange for your opinion.
For every survey you take, you’ll be given Opinion Outpost points, which can then be swapped for rewards.
Is it safe?
Opinion Outpost is a legitimate site and has been operating since 2000. The parent company is Dynata Global UK Limited, a market research company based in London. The company also operates in Texas, America and owns other sites, such as OneOpinion, Vindale Research and QuickThoughts.
How does Opinion Outpost work?
To receive surveys, you must fill out several profile questionnaires, including personal information such as your date of birth, employment and interests. When I say a few, these profile surveys will probably take between 15 and 30 minutes and are pretty comprehensive. But this is so Opinion Outpost can send you relevant surveys.
Once your profile is complete, you’ll receive a survey invitation to your registered email address when there’s a suitable one available. Simply click the link and start answering. When you complete a survey, you’ll be rewarded with points.
When Opinion Outpost members have made enough points, they can be exchanged for gift cards or cash through PayPal.
Each survey will last an average of 10 to 15 minutes, but it really depends on what is available on the day.
As an added bonus, every survey you attempt gives you a chance to win a £5000 prize draw every quarter.
Although you will usually complete Opinion Outpost surveys from the desktop site, most of them are also compatible with a mobile device. That means you can use your smartphone. Unfortunately, there is no mobile app available.
As a final bonus of using this site, you may be invited to join focus groups. These usually take one to two hours and can pay up to £100.
Other Opinion Outpost features
If you’re a seasoned survey taker, I’m sure you know that most sites have little perks or extra ways to make money. But the features on Opinion Outpost aren’t particularly breathtaking.
Badges
To try and encourage you to participate more, Opinion Outpost will reward you with badges as you reach higher levels. When you start, you’ll be a bronze member. But complete surveys and redeem your rewards, and you can move up levels:

- Platinum
- Diamond
And what does that mean? Well, I hope you’re sitting down.

So, if you become a Diamond member you should receive more surveys. But apart from that, it makes no difference. This is a shame, as sites like Swagbucks actually reward you when you move up levels.
Quick polls
You have the chance to complete quick polls with Opinion Outpost. This will be a one-question poll with multiple answers to choose from. Although some survey sites will reward you for completing these, Opinion Outpost doesn’t.
A donation to charity
So the above extras are a little underwhelming, to say the least. However, Opinion Outpost does donate $10,000 to the American Red Cross every month, which is a nice touch.
Any downsides?
All survey sites have some negative points and that’s certainly true of Opinion Outpost.
Unfortunately, I found myself screened out of quite a few surveys. And there’s nothing more frustrating as you spend several minutes answering questions only to be told that you’re not suitable.
When new surveys are available, you need to answer them quickly. All surveys have limited space, so you must get in before others.
How do you withdraw your earnings?
There are several options to choose from when making a withdrawal. If you fancy cash rewards, then payment into your PayPal account is your best option, although you could opt for a prepaid Mastercard. Not quite as good as cash, but not far off.

Can you really make money on Opinion Outpost?
So, 100 points are the equivalent of £5 worth of rewards. That means that each point is worth 5 pence.
But how long does it take to get to 100 points? Point rewards aren’t particularly consistent. For example, one survey that lasted 3 minutes rewarded me with 5 points. Another survey took 19 minutes but only rewarded me with 10 points.
To make Opinion Outpost worthwhile, you need to be choosy about the surveys you complete. Don’t just fill out every survey you receive; make sure it’s worthwhile.
On average, expect to earn around £3-4 per hour.

How long does it take Opinion Outpost to pay?
If you choose an E-voucher, you will usually receive it within 48 hours and physical vouchers within ten business days.
But Opinion Outpost does carry a stock of gift cards. You could have your heart set on that £25 Argos voucher, only to find out that it’s not available. You then have to decide whether to wait or choose something else.
Referral scheme
Most survey sites offer incentives if you refer friends and family. Although the United States version of Opinion Outpost seems to offer a $1 reward when sharing your referral link, the UK company doesn’t have one.
What other people say
Taking a look at various sites, reviews of Opinion Outpost have quite a mixed bag. Trustpilot rates it as a ‘great’ 3.9 out of 5. Although there are many negative reviews from Opinion Outpost users losing access to their accounts, plenty of other users say it’s a great site with a decent pay rate.

Survey sites are always a great option if you’re looking to make money online.
And although it’s not the best-paid survey website out there, it does have its advantages. There’s a low payment threshold, plenty of payment options and quite a few available surveys. It’s a shame that there’s a lack of extra features and ways to earn, so it becomes a bit of a slog for the money.
