How would you like to earn rewards just for doing something you normally do? Well, the Biscuit Pet Care app promises to do just that whenever you take your dog for a walk. Let’s take a look at how the app works and how much you can expect to earn.
Biscuit
I’ve reviewed quite a few passive incomes over the years. Most never promise to make you a fortune, but they’re always handy as an extra little income.
One app I did try was Sweatcoin, which told me I could earn rewards just from walking (without a dog). But I worked out that it was going to take me several years before I earned anything and I gave up on it. So, I was naturally sceptical when another app offered something similar.
What is the Biscuit app?
Biscuit is an app designed to reward pet owners for their dedication to their furry companions. By simply walking and tending to your dog, you can accumulate “Biscuits” that can be redeemed for vouchers from popular brands.
How does it work?
Once you’ve downloaded the app, you’ll need to create an account, which includes sharing an email address, mobile number, some personal details and your dog’s microchip number(s). Biscuit says they do this because it’s a legal requirement to have your dog chipped. However, I suspect it’s also to ensure that people aren’t taking the mick out of the app and claiming for dogs they don’t actually own or walk.
When your dog(s) are linked to the app, it’s time to start walking. Go into the app and register that you’re going for a walk and you’ll earn your Biscuits. According to the app, how long you have to walk to earn your rewards depends on the size of your dog. However, from what I’ve seen, smaller dogs seem to be set for 30 minutes, with larger dogs, an hour.
Biscuit will show you your dog’s activity history. You can scroll through your previous walks and see where you’ve been, how far you walked and for how long. This is done for each dog. Or, you can scroll through the calendar and see which days you’ve taken your dog out

Is it safe?
I would love to give a resounding yes, but in truth, I can’t with any company. Biscuit has been around for a couple of years and although I’ve seen some negative reviews, I haven’t read anything that makes me concerned about the app’s safety.
However, you do need to be comfortable with sharing your dog’s microchip number. But I think it would take an extreme case where this number could be used and abused. The worst-case scenario would be a hacker getting hold of these numbers and then being able to find expensive dogs.
How many Biscuits can you earn?
For every 30-minute walk, you’ll get 25 Biscuits. If you do this three times per week, you’ll get an extra bonus of 50 Biscuits. So that’s a maximum of 125 Biscuits per week from walking.
Although it’s not clear on the Biscuit website, it looks as if you can claim for two dogs each week. At least my wife is being paid for both of hers. However, it’s not expressly written.
There are other ways to boost your Biscuits.
- 100 for providing microchip details
- 100 for vaccinations
- 50 for tracking the weight of your dog
- 100 for pet insurance
- 50 for worm and flea treatment
- 50 for referring friends
The above is per dog, unlike the walking. However, you may need to upload proof, such as receipts or policy details, to receive your Biscuits. Some can be updated every few months, whilst others can only be done annually.
What can you exchange your Biscuits for?
You could exchange your Biscuits for discounts on various pet care products, such as pet food subscriptions, supplements and training equipment. In all honesty though, I wouldn’t bother. A lot of these discounts are given to new customers anyway or can be found on cashback sites.
Instead, I would exchange them for gift cards. You can find cards starting from £5 for places like Zizzi, Just Eat, Caffe Nero, Amazon, Asda and Tesco.
However, not all gift cards are valued the same. I’ve found that you need almost 50% more biscuits for an Amazon gift card compared to one from Just Eat. So bear that in mind when you cash out.
Alternatively, you could donate your Biscuits to various charities.
Any downsides?
It’s a little difficult to see where you have earned your Biscuits. Although you get an overall figure, the app doesn’t breakdown when exactly you have been given your rewards.
As the app becomes more popular, the rewards are becoming a little less generous. A few months ago, a £10 Amazon voucher would cost 1,000 Biscuits, but it’s now up to over 1,400.
And you have to be comfortable sharing a fair amount of data about you and your dog(s), which isn’t for everyone.
How much can you earn?
I’m going to work this out based purely on walking. You can get your hands on some £10 restaurant gift cards for around 750 Biscuits. So, as long as you go for a walk three times a week, it will take six weeks to cash out.
If you want a £10 Just Eat gift card, it will take between seven and eight weeks, and a £10 Amazon gift card, about ten weeks.
My Biscuit app review conclusion
As passive earners go (as much as you can call walking a passive income), this is actually quite good. Most people should be able to easily pick up over £100 worth of rewards every year and it requires little more than pushing a button.
Yes, you do have to share quite a bit of information with Biscuit. But let’s be honest here: Nobody gives anything away for free. I’m sure they do care about your dog’s health, but they’re doing it to make money. If you’re happy with the fact you and your pooch are the products here, it’s a great little way to earn some extra money.
