Tribe troubles: Why Research Tribe might not be worth it

If you’re looking to make some extra money in your spare time, then Research Tribe may have caught your eye. But let’s see why this site isn’t worth the effort and where else you should take a look.

Research Tribe summary

Although Research Tribe claims to send you unique earning opportunities, I never received one after several months as a member. Instead, they just sent me links to other sites which provide surveys and mystery shopping. Research Tribe will then earn a commission. You’re better off doing the research yourself.

A complaint

I’m going to start this Research Tribe review with a complaint, although that’s partly due to the fact that there isn’t much to review.

I started this blog quite a few years ago, mainly because I wasn’t happy with a lot of content out there. As a keen survey taker, I was always on the lookout for new sites to join but found many of the reviews were poor at best. Either people lied to earn a referral bonus or it was quite clear that they hadn’t tried the site out.

And after trying out Research Tribe for a month and not getting anywhere, I thought I would read what other people thought. And it didn’t come as a great surprise that the reviews I read were all very generic and told me absolutely nothing. All they said was that Research Tribe was legitimate and it provides people with a way to make money. Yeah, thanks for that.

What is Research Tribe?

Research Tribe promises to help you to make money by sending you emails that contain earning opportunities for

  • mystery shopping
  • product testing
  • surveys
  • focus groups

According to its website, it started off as a mystery shopping company over 10 years ago but has now opened up more ways for users to make money.

Is Research Tribe legit?

This is actually a tough one to call. Yes, this is a genuine company and they’re not out to scam you. In fact, they have been operating since 2011. However, the website isn’t fully clear.

You see, you’ll sign up and give some personal details over to Research Tribe. Then, you’ll receive emails from them with links to sign up for other survey sites. In return, Research Tribe will make money.

Nowhere on its website is this made clear. But then, why would it? If Research Tribe is only going to send you invites to companies that pay them a commission, it means that you won’t always be sent the best earning opportunities. For example, Prolific is one of the best-paying survey sites out there but doesn’t pay referral fees. So Research tribe won’t send links to this site as they won’t make any money.

Is it worth joining?

No. Why restrict yourself to just what one company recommends? A quick search in Google can find dozens of companies you can join to help you make extra money. Plus, you can get reviews from all kinds of sources to see if a site is any good or not.

Why give your personal details to Research Tribe for no benefit?

Which sites should you join?

As I said above, you can use Google to find decent earning opportunities. I have also written a lot of summary posts that will give you a good overview of sites you can join to make money. Each one of them I have tried personally.

My Research Tribe review conclusion

As I’ve said above, I see very little benefit to joining this site. Research Tribe isn’t interested in you making money, they want you to sign up to sites so they can make referral money.

After over two months as a member, I have received plenty of emails and earned absolutely nothing.
