Have you just bought an LG Smart TV and thought you might watch your favourite programmes on ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5? Then, after hours of searching, you’ve discovered you can’t actually find the My5, ITV Hub and All 4 apps. Well, they might not actually be there! But take a look at a way around the issue.

How to get My5, ITVX and All 4 on an LG smart TV
I know this is a money saving and making blog, but I also love my technology, it’s just that I have little time to write much about it. But you can look at my reviews of some smart tech, like smart meters and smart thermostats, if you have a few minutes.
I like to keep to a budget when it comes to spending, but televisions are one area I don’t mind spending a bit extra on. I bought my first 28″ Sony widescreen in the late 90s’ and since then, I’ve been hooked on going bigger and better.
In 2019, I bought an LG 65″ OLED TV, which is just an awesome picture. It also came with all the apps I needed, and the operating system was far quicker than the Sony I previously owned.
But this month, we decided to redecorate our bedroom and I opted to upgrade from our old Samsung TV. It wasn’t a bad television and had most of the apps I needed, but it was a little small and I couldn’t add newer apps like Disney+ and Britbox.
After quite a bit of searching, I decided to go with a 43″ 2020 LG television. After all, it had good reviews and I knew what to expect from it… wrong!
Nope, it looks like many of the 2020 LG TVs didn’t come with useful apps like ITVX (formerly ITV Hub), All 4 and My5. Having a quick search on the internet, it seems that LG failed to agree with Freeview for some of their latest models, hence why the apps aren’t added.
It’s not all bad news though. BBC iPlayer has been added, which was previously left off older versions.

Check the LG content store
Your first step is to check the LG content store. It’s possible that since your TV was released, the apps have been added to the store for download.
How to download My5, ITVX and All 4 apps to an LG smart TV
- Click the home button on your TV remote (usually a white or black button)
- Scroll to the LG Content Store button (pink background)
- Scroll on the top menu to APPS
- If the app is available, it should be listed under the ‘Hot’ section
- If not, use the search button and type in the app
If you still can’t find the app you need, then you have three option.
Three solutions
There are three possible solutions to the issue of missing apps. The first is to purchase something like an Amazon Fire TV Stick.
This will allow you to download apps like My5, All 4, BBC iPlayer, ITVX and many more. It can be voice-activated (if that’s your thing) and has Netflix, Amazon Video and Disney+ buttons so you can access content quickly.
Casting or screen mirroring
If you have a mobile phone or tablet device, it may be possible that you can cast or mirror the screen onto your TV. Just download the app of your choice and select the cast option. However, this does depend on the make of your device and the model of your TV. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work from my iPhone.
LG web browser
If you don’t want the Fire Stick and you can’t cast to your TV, the simple solution is to use the LG web browser. This app is meant for browsing the web, but fortunately, it will give you access to the on-demand services we are after.
Below is a step-by-step guide for each service.

How do I get My5 on my LG Smart TV?
Before following the steps below, it is worth checking to see if My5 is now available in the LG Content Store (thanks to Jim). It has now been made available for many LG TV’s. You will need to create an account though. If not…
- Press the home button on your remote
- Scroll until you reach the web browser
- Press select
- In the search bar, enter https://my5.tv
- My5 doesn’t require you to log in to watch, although it’s useful for remembering your favourite programmes.
- Add the site to bookmarks (this is usually in a menu on the top right)
- Once you start watching, choose the box in the bottom right-hand corner for fullscreen
How do I get ITVX on my LG Smart TV?
Before you follow the steps below, it may be worth checking to see if your TV has updated (or needs updating). Thanks to Michael in the comments for pointing out that ITVX has now been added to some 2020 LG models… mine included!
- Press the home button on your remote
- Scroll until you reach the web browser
- Press select
- In the search bar, enter https://www.itv.com/hub/itv
- As you do with All 4, again, you need to log in to watch shows.
- Add the site to bookmarks (this is usually in a menu on the top right)
- Once you start watching, choose the box in the bottom right-hand corner for fullscreen
Please note that there seems to be an issue with increasing the picture size to full screen with ITV Hub. I will see if there’s a solution.
How do I get All 4 on my LG Smart TV?
*Thanks to Paul in the comments below*
There is now a licencing issue with LG and All4 and using the web browser method below will no longer work. That means you will need to use something like the Fire Stick I mentioned above if you want to use the service on your LG TV.
Very disappointing that the two companies haven’t come to an agreement.
- Press the home button on your remote
- Scroll until you reach the web browser
- Press select
- In the search bar, enter https://www.channel4.com/
- You will then need to log in. If you don’t have an account already, it may be easier to create one on a device with a keyboard
- Add the site to bookmarks (this is usually in a menu on the top right)
- Once you start watching, choose the box in the bottom right-hand corner for fullscreen
Will this work on Samsung, Sony and other TV brands?
Although I have written the guide specifically for LG, there’s no reason why you can’t watch My5, ITVX and All 4 using the same method on any other major brand of TV. As long as they have a web browser or a casting option, you should be able to watch your favourite apps.
I’ll admit that using the web browser isn’t ideal, but it is the best way to watch your favourite apps. But please note, I do find that All 4 isn’t the most responsive through the web browser and can be a little slow.

Great relief to now know why I have a problem getting All4 onto my expensive LG TV. It’s a licensing disagreement. But also I am so annoyed with LG the TV can’t have express vpn loaded either. Thanks to my fire stick I can now watch Programmes whilst outside the UK. My advice to new comers, be aware of LG’s short comings
