The £5 Co-op meal deal is one of the cheapest ways to stock up your freezer. Take a look at what’s on offer and several ways you can get an even bigger discount. Plus, I also take a look at what’s included in the Iceland £5 meal deal.
£5 meal deal from Co-op
I’m sure we’ve all noticed the cost of our food shop increasing over the last year and it’s not going to come down in price any time soon. That’s why it’s important to shop around and get the best prices whenever you can. And you won’t find much better value than the £5 frozen meal deal from Co-op.
And don’t forget to sign up for the Co-op membership scheme to make extra money back.
What is this month’s Co-op meal deal?
Seasoned Co-op shoppers will know that the frozen deals on offer constantly change. Included in this deal is:
- Birds Eye 8 100% Crispy Fish Fingers 224g £1.80
- Birds Eye 2 Battered Extra Large Fish Fillets 320g £3.50
- Birds Eye Garden Peas 375g £1.50
- McCain Oven Chips 750g £1.85
- Viennetta Vanilla Ice Cream Dessert 650ml £1.80
On their own, these items would come to £10.45. That means you’ll save over 50% when buying them as part of the meal deal!
And this month, you have the option of adding a pot of Häagen-Dazs Salted Caramel Ice cream 400g for just £2.50 (so the meal deal will cost £7.50 in total). The ice cream costs £4.95 on its own.
Co-op £5 Frozen Meal Deal Terms
The offer expires 31st May 2022.
The Co-op meal deal is not available in every store. Prices of individual items can vary compared to those shown above.
Unfortunately, if your store is missing one of the above items, you will not receive the discount.
The £5 meal deal may be available from Nisa shops that sell Co-op food.
The offer is available if you order online for click & collect or delivery
How to save even more
Let’s be honest, £5 for all that food is pretty good. But there are ways to save even more money.
Co-op membership card
For the cost of just £1, you can become a member of the Co-op. Not only will you receive personalised offers each week, but you earn 2 pence back for every £1 you spend – one of the most generous of all the UK supermarkets. Take a look at some of the best loyalty cards available in the UK.
If you’re a student, make sure you get hold of an NUS card. Just show it at the checkout and you’ll receive a further 10% off.
Cashback sites are an easy way to make money back when you shop, but the issue is, they generally only work when you shop online. However, Airtime Rewards allows you to link your debit or credit card to the app and cashback is added automatically when you make a purchase.
You’ll be given rewards when you shop at the likes of Primark and Matalan and any money you earn can be put towards your mobile phone bill. Sign up here and use the code 8YXY4BLK for a 50 pence bonus.
Please bear in mind that the retailers listed on Airtime Rewards change regularly, so the Co-op may not always be listed. But it’s certainly worth downloading.
Bank cashback offers
Many of the major banks now offer cashback offers to your debit card. All you need to do is visit your banking app (or website) and activate them. Then, shop as normal and the cashback will be added back into your bank – sometimes as much as 15%. Some of the banks offering cashback include Santander, NatWest and Lloyds. And the best thing is, the cashback can be earned on top of anything you get back from the two apps I listed above.
Did you know that there are several apps out there that pay you for photos of your receipts? Just snap a picture of your receipt, submit it through the app and you’ll earn points. These points can then be traded for cash or vouchers. And the best thing is, you can use the same receipt for all the apps. Take a look at the best receipt scanning apps.
And if you like making the most of supermarket deals, take a look at the next dates for 25% off 6 bottles of wines.
Co-op alternative – Iceland £5 meal deal
Please note that the Iceland meal deal is not currently running.
Co-op isn’t the only company offering a £5 meal deal, with Iceland getting in on the action too. Although you won’t get as much food compared to the Co-op, you often have a bit more choice when it comes to putting your meal together. However, some months are far better than others.
- One of 2 pizzas: Chicago Town Takeaway Medium Stuffed Crust Cheese Pizza 480g or Chicago Town Takeaway Medium Stuffed Crust Pepperoni Pizza 490g (£2.25)
- One drink: Includes Budweiser Lager Beer Bottles 4 x 300ml (£4) or soft drinks such as Pepsi Max Cherry Cola 8 x 330ml (£3)
In total, these items could cost you £6.15 – so a potential saving of £1.15. In all honesty, Iceland’s deals are usually much better than this.
