Are you a fan of Prolific and want to find more sites like it? Then here are a few of the best options for UK users to consider.

The best alternatives to Prolific
Prolific is one of the most popular survey sites in the UK. And it’s no surprise as its surveys pay more than quite a lot of its competitors. But, it’s certainly not a perfect platform to make money from.
As it has increased in popularity over the years, new users now have to join a waiting list before becoming members. And for existing members, with Prolific being such a well-used site, they need to be quick to take a study before the places fill up.
So here are a few sites that are similar to Prolific and certainly worth checking out.
Testable Minds

Out of all the survey sites on this list, Testable Minds is the most similar to Prolific. The majority of the studies you’ll find here are set by academics and pay a similar rate compared to Prolific. Plus, some offer you the chance to win a bonus.
You’re paid in $US and can withdraw your earnings through PayPal or Revolut, with a minimum payout of just $1.
Testable Minds also has a referral scheme which means you can earn $1 for every friend that signs up and completes a study.
✅ Pros: Similar types of studies compared to Prolific. More payout options. Referral scheme.
❌ Cons: Fewer studies available. You’re not told how much your pay is per hour.
Branded Surveys

This site operates a little differently from Testable Minds and Prolific. The surveys you’ll find on this site are mainly created by companies and they don’t usually pay quite so well.
However, there is generally a consistent supply of surveys which means that you don’t have to sit around and wait and can continue to earn.
Branded Surveys reward you with bonus points as you complete more surveys and you can withdraw your earnings by PayPal or with gift cards.
✅ Pros: A constant supply of surveys. Earn bonuses the more surveys you complete.
❌ Cons: Surveys aren’t quite as well paid or as interesting.
YouGov

YouGov is interested more in your thoughts on politics, the environment and social matters, rather than what you think about products. You will often find the results of polls they have conducted in major newspapers and magazines across the UK.
You are usually sent a couple of surveys each week and can withdraw your money straight into your bank account once you reach £50. But you can boost your earnings by sharing data such as what you watch on streaming platforms or connecting your bank accounts to YouGov through Open Banking.
There’s also an app that provides you with short surveys and only requires you to reach £1 before withdrawing your money.
✅ Pros: Interesting surveys and they’re fairly well paid. Sharing your data pays well too.
❌ Cons: It can take a while to reach £50, depending on how many surveys you are sent.
Pinecone Research

If you want a high-paying alternative to Prolific, then Pinecone Research is a decent option. Their surveys often pay as much as £3 for every 10 minutes, which can work out at an impressive £18 per hour.
Plus, you may even get the chance to test products.
The only downside is that Pinecone Research isn’t always taking on new customers. Click on the button below to find out more.
✅ Pros: Can pay very well for individual surveys
❌ Cons: Work can be a limited and it can be tough to join
Y Live

This is another well-paying survey site that can see you earn around £1 for every 5 minutes (or £12 per hour).
Like YouGov, you can only complete surveys when you receive a direct invitation. This can be several times a week to once a month. It really depends on your profile and what they’re looking for.
Once you reach £50, Y Live will send your earnings straight to your bank account. Or, you can choose a cheque if you want to complicate matters slightly.
✅ Pros: One of the best-paying survey sites
❌ Cons: Some months, it can be a very slow earner
Ipsos iSay

This site is a bit of an all-rounder. You’ll be sent a decent number of surveys and they aren’t badly paid. You’ll earn points for each survey, which can then be exchanged for gift cards.
But the biggest attraction here is that you may be invited to test products. You’ll get sent an item which you then need to try out – this could be food, drink, a cleaning product… almost anything. You’ll get to keep the product and you’ll earn money for sharing your thoughts.
✅ Pros: A chance to test products. Not badly paid
❌ Cons: You will be screened out of surveys, which can be frustrating
Newvistalive

A simple-to-use site that sends you a couple of surveys every week. You’ll be rewarded with points, which can then be converted into money – 100 points = £1.
Like both YouGov and Y Live, Newvistalive has a £50 threshold before you can withdraw. But in the case of this site, you are paid with a gift card.
✅ Pros: Surveys are fairly well paid
❌ Cons: Can take a while to reach £50
MTurk

Also known as Amazon Mechanical Turk, this site is brought to you by the retail giant. Here, you will make money by completing tasks, also called Human Intelligence Tasks (HITs).
These HITs do include completing surveys – some of which can also be found on Prolific. But you can earn money from other tasks such as researching information, rating videos and transcribing.
However, although these tasks can be quite interesting, they don’t tend to pay very well. And the money you earn will either need to be paid into a US bank account or paid out in US Amazon gift cards.
✅ Pros: Plenty of tasks with a lot of variety
❌ Cons: Quite poorly paid and the payout is an issue for UK customers
Which is the best alternative to Prolific?
There are plenty of options out there to choose from and it really depends on what you’re after. If you want to join a survey site that is most similar to Prolific, then Testable Minds is your best bet. However, surveys do tend to be much harder to come by.
If you’re just looking to make money, then any of the sites on this list are worth checking out… with the exception of Amazon MTurk. Although the tasks can be fun, the pay isn’t worth it.

Hi Pete
I am shocked to see your no 1 survey site is Branded Surveys. I've deleted my account after my first payment. Everything was good until I reached my first 500 points. I cashed out and they paid promptly
However, after my first payment I required one survey to qualify for a bonus. At that point every survey I tried either said survey full or they disqualified me while completing the survey. I tried a many surveys over a couple of days and couldn't complete any.
The last straw came when I was disqualified from a survey about the menopause more than halfway through. I am that typical female experiencing the menopause first hand, yet they decided I wasn't suitable more than half way through. I looked for attention checks and ensured I answered those correctly.
I have a prolific account and like it a hundred times better, there is no comparison between that and branded. Research branded a bit more, it seems many people have had experiences similar to mine
If you can recommend any sites that work like prolific that you think are good, I would really appreciate it if you can let me know
Many thanks

Hi Shena. I agree Prolific is a great site, but I know there can be quite a long waiting list to join. Sorry that you've had issues with Branded Surveys - I've been using them for quite a few years and never had any problems. But I realise it's not the same for everyone.
The only site that is truly comparable to Prolific is Testable Minds. However, payment can be slightly lower and the surveys certainly aren't as often. I will keep you posted if I find another Prolific alternative.
